Hot Handwriting: Restoring Focus Through Making

This workshop is a hands on exploration of writing by hand as both a creative practice and a way of restoring attention in a digital world. It focuses on reconnecting participants with the physical and cognitive experience of mark making through brush calligraphy.

In this workshop, O’Brien guides participants through foundational techniques while linking practical exercises to research into what happens in the body and mind while writing by hand. The emphasis is on presence, rhythm and flow rather than perfection or performance.

Attendees leave with the beginnings of their own script style, a renewed relationship with analog tools and a clearer understanding of handwriting as a method for focus, creativity and renewal.
