Drawn in Your Own Hand: A Workshop in Relational Practice

This workshop is a collaborative lab for designers who want to reimagine how we move through design relationally, reflectively and with care. Beginning with reflective activities to create a connection to yourself and others, you will have an opportunity to dig deep into what relational design means to you, your community and your practice.

Wahlin and Goodrich then guide participants through practical exercises that poke at the seams of our frameworks, turning them inside out to think beyond how we communicate design, and instead, expand into how we actually move through it.

Working in small groups, participants will work together to come up with their own relational frameworks, asking: “What do I bring? What do I share? Where do I step aside?”These three movements challenge what existing models leave out and invite you to crack open new ways of looking at your own practice.

Attendees leave with a reimagined framework drawn in their own hand, a shared language for designing with care, and together, a way to think about how this work continues beyond the room.
